Construction update May 2026
Construction of our big battery is progressing well.
Since our local supplier and job seeker session in December last year, our team including UGL, Tesla, local subcontractor Fulton Hogan as well as regional workers have been collaborating closely to build our first 6-hour storage asset on time.
Together, we have:
- completed key enabling works including road upgrades to support safe, reliable access of construction traffic and heavy deliveries to site
- completed bulk earthworks for the main construction compound, laydown area (a dedicated space where heavy machinery, equipment and other goods are stored during construction), battery pad (a sealed surface will be built on top of this prior to installation of the batteries), and the operations and maintenance (O&M) area.
The UGL team has handed over the O&M area to Tesla and subcontractor CEM to begin detailed earthworks and commence construction of the O&M facility.
Over the next six months, our focus will be on completing detailed earthworks and installation of the bench on which we can install the 252 Tesla Megapack 2XL units.
We appreciate the ongoing support from the local community and businesses on this project. For any concerns or questions, please contact us on 1800 966 102 or contact@mucheabattery.com.au
